Enchanted Valley

This painting was inspired by the rustic landscape of Rio Rancho which is made even more beautiful by the majestic Sandia Mountains in the background. Rio Rancho is mostly arid desert that can certainly seem desolate to those less accustomed to the region. When you stop to really enjoy the beauty of the area you start to realize that the dry landscape has a certain rustic charm to it that can make you feel like one with nature. The Sandia Mountains in the background are beautiful any time of the year and the usual deep blue skies of New Mexico are more blue and beautiful than anywhere in the world but when this picture was inspired, the blue skies were replaced by radiant colors from the setting sun. It is no exaggeration to say that there is no other place in the world with more beautiful skies than the state of New Mexico. Rio Rancho was established in 1961 on the outskirts of Albuquerque and has grown significantly in the past couple decades. This growth means that in a matter of minutes you can quickly go from modern shopping centers and new housing developments to a rustic desert landscape populated with quail, roadrunners, lizards, and snakes. The city of Rio Rancho is a great place to live with excellent schools, impressive parks, and wonderful housing communities.
